Biography

Sarah's musical vocation started as a seven year old singing in her village church choir, followed by school choirs and competing as a classical soprano singer, and also as a pianist, in music festivals. However, singing in live bands was always the long-term plan and in 1997 Sarah joined the Nottingham-based 7-piece band 'Dr Love & the Disco Divas' and has since performed (either solo or in a band) to a variety of audiences across the UK and Europe (Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Cyprus and Malta) and as far as South Africa, performing in theatres, night-clubs, wedding receptions, outdoor festivals and rather more obscure venues, notably the inside of an air-craft carrier; in the BBC studio grounds for Children in Need outside in the November rain; and at the bottom of a mountain in Italy to an audience of 10,000 people while the snow fell down in minus 6 degrees C.

As a toddler, the first ever song that Sarah attempted to sing was 'Waterloo' after seeing the 1970s television footage of the Eurovision Song Contest in which ABBA won. In 1992 Sarah attended a concert by Bjorn Again, the world-acclaimed ABBA show, and this sparked Sarah's desire to join the ABBA tribute scene, which she did at the turn of the millennium and has since sung with many ABBA tribute bands. This has included performances as Frida with Bjorn Again - the band that inspired her all those years ago!  Sarah has also sung with a 70s disco band, an 80s pop band, and as a Cher and Shania Twain tribute act accompanying a Queen tribute band and also has an act as a rock tribute artist - see more at www.rockmaiden.co.uk
